Spin-offs
Background
The NTF has incubated several impactful initiatives, including Red Horizon, an Executive Education program at Harvard; the Arms Control Negotiation Academy, now an Iceland-based international consortium; and the publicly accessible Afghanistan Negotiation Project database.
The Negotiation Task Force (NTF) has incubated several projects that have grown into impactful standalone initiatives.
Among our successes is "Red Horizon," a geopolitical training program for senior political and military leaders. We also launched the Arms Control Negotiation Academy (ACONA), an international consortium now headquartered in Iceland. The Afghanistan Negotiation Project, which provides a comprehensive database on Afghanistan's negotiation dynamics, remains available to the public at no cost, reflecting our commitment to accessible knowledge.
The Problem
Afghanistan has faded from international attention, but its population continues to endure immense suffering under complex political and humanitarian conditions.
Navigating the unrecognized Taliban government poses significant challenges for international stakeholders seeking to engage effectively in the region.
A lack of nuanced understanding of Afghanistan's conflict dynamics hinders efforts to promote stability and address the needs of its vulnerable population.
Our Solution
NTF launched the Afghanistan Negotiation Project to deepen understanding of Afghanistan’s complex conflict environment. The initiative provides a comprehensive analysis of the negotiation landscape, including stakeholder mapping and conflict dynamics, to highlight the intricate political context in which any peace process would need to occur. This project equips international stakeholders with the insights necessary to engage constructively and responsibly in one of the world’s most volatile regions.
